OAGF Confirms October Salaries Will Be Paid On Time

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has dismissed claims that October salaries for federal workers would be delayed due to an upgrade of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

In a statement released Wednesday by Bawa Mokwa, Director of the OAGF Press Office, the office said the upgrade is part of a planned consolidation of payroll platforms and will not affect salary payments.

“The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation refutes recent reports on social media claiming that a software upgrade within IPPIS will delay October salaries,” the statement said.

IPPIS, introduced in 2007, was designed to improve payroll transparency, eliminate ghost workers, and integrate federal financial systems. Managed by the OAGF, it has undergone several upgrades to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Previously, IPPIS operated three payroll platforms. In 2024, one platform was migrated to the SoftSuite application, leaving two active platforms: EBS and SoftSuite. Due to performance issues with EBS, the government decided to consolidate all payroll operations under SoftSuite.

The OAGF said the integration has been carefully managed, with any minor issues promptly addressed, and emphasized that the process is a continuation of previous efficiency-enhancing initiatives.

“This is not a new development but a continuation of an earlier effort to improve payroll processing accuracy and efficiency,” Mokwa said.

The office reassured federal workers that October salaries will be paid on schedule, urging staff and stakeholders to ignore misleading reports circulating online.

“Treasury and IPPIS staff are advised to disregard reports not originating from the OAGF. For verified information, the public should rely solely on official communications from the office,” the statement concluded.

The announcement underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining timely salary payments amid ongoing technological upgrades in payroll management.
