NSITF warns Nigerians against fake recruitment

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has warned Nigerians against fake recruitment advertisements and appointment letters being circulated by fraudsters to deceive job seekers.

The warning is contained in a public notice issued by the Fund and circulated to its Regional and Branch Managers through a memorandum dated Oct. 5, 2026.

The memorandum was signed by the Executive Director, Administration, NSITF, Mr Samaila Abdu, who cautioned members of the public against responding to fraudulent recruitment offers.

According to Abdu, NSITF is currently not recruiting for any position, while advertisements circulating on social media, particularly on Facebook, are fake.

“NSITF is not currently recruiting for any position, and advertisements circulating on social media, particularly Facebook, are fake,” Abdu said.

He said the fraudulent advertisements were part of a growing trend involving individuals and groups falsely claiming to represent NSITF in recruitment activities.

“Members of the public are warned against responding to such advertisements or making payments to anyone in connection with purported employment opportunities,” Abdu said.

He said the Fund did not charge any fee for employment and would not conduct recruitment through unofficial social media platforms or unauthorised channels.

Abdu said genuine employment opportunities, whenever available, would be communicated through the Fund’s official communication channels.

He urged members of the public, particularly job seekers, to stay alert and report suspicious recruitment advertisements to NSITF authorities.

Abdu also directed all Regional and Branch Managers to prominently display the notice at strategic locations within their offices to protect the public from fraudulent recruitment schemes.

He said the notice should be displayed at reception areas, entrances and exits, notice boards, SERVICOM desks and other conspicuous locations accessible to staff and members of the public.

He urged Nigerians to verify recruitment claims through NSITF’s official communication channels before providing personal information or taking any action.

He said that legitimate public-sector recruitment does not require applicants to pay individuals or unofficial agents.

The development comes amid concerns over fraudulent online recruitment schemes targeting unemployed Nigerians with promises of government jobs in exchange for money or personal information.
