NSE Partners Lonadek to Equip Nigerian Engineers with Global Competencies

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has entered a strategic partnership with Lonadek Nigeria Limited to build a globally competitive engineering workforce through targeted training, mentorship, and entrepreneurship development.

Under the new collaboration, both institutions aim to create structured programs that will strengthen technical capacity, foster innovation, and promote professional excellence among Nigerian engineers.

The initiative is expected to accelerate the transformation of local engineering talent into internationally recognized professionals capable of contributing to global projects.

NSE President, Mrs. Margaret Oguntala, described the agreement as a milestone in the society’s ongoing drive to enhance professional standards and strengthen the country’s human capital base.

She said the collaboration would enable engineers to stay ahead of evolving technologies and maintain relevance in the global marketplace through continuous professional development.

According to her, the NSE remains committed to building a generation of engineers who can combine technical competence with ethical leadership and innovation.

She emphasized that by exposing engineers to global best practices and new industrial methods, the partnership would enhance Nigeria’s capacity to achieve sustainable industrial growth and infrastructure development.

The partnership will operate under the society’s Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) framework, which ensures that members undergo periodic upskilling to meet international standards.

The NSE said it plans to leverage the expertise of Lonadek in delivering specialized training, digital transformation, and mentorship programs that prepare engineers for opportunities in oil and gas, power, construction, and emerging technology sectors.

Principal Consultant of Lonadek, Dr. Ibilola Amao, said the collaboration is designed to help engineers evolve into innovators and industry leaders capable of creating homegrown solutions with global impact.

She explained that the goal is to empower engineers to become “STEMpreneurs” and “techpreneurs” — professionals who combine scientific knowledge with entrepreneurial drive to stimulate economic growth.

Dr. Amao also disclosed that the partnership would facilitate international collaborations and internship placements for Nigerian engineers, opening doors to global exposure and cross-border knowledge exchange.

She added that developing engineers who can compete internationally would contribute significantly to Nigeria’s diversification efforts and attract foreign investment into critical sectors.

Industry observers believe the agreement reflects a broader shift within Nigeria’s professional ecosystem toward stronger collaboration between academic institutions, industry, and professional bodies.

The initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s drive to boost local content participation and enhance the nation’s technical capacity to deliver complex projects without excessive foreign dependence.

By integrating innovation, mentorship, and entrepreneurship into professional development, the NSE–Lonadek partnership is positioned to transform the engineering landscape in Nigeria.

The collaboration is expected to empower a new generation of engineers to drive industrial growth, promote sustainability, and position Nigeria as a hub for technical excellence in Africa and beyond.
