The Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Saidu Mohammed as Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

In a statement on Friday, NSE President, Mr Alimasuya Rabiu, said that the appointment was based on competence, and in favor of deep-rooted technical expertise.

Rabiu said that by selecting a veteran with career spanning nearly four decades, Tinubu has effectively placed the nation’s midstream and downstream future in the hands of one of an accomplished architects.

He said that the NSE’s enthusiasm stems from Mohammed’s track record as a seasoned technocrat who has consistently operated at the intersection of complex engineering and high-level strategy.

He said that being a Fellow of both the NSE and the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers makes Mohammed’s headship of NMDPRA a victory for professional excellence.

According to Rabiu, his tenure at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as Group Executive Director of Gas and Power, was marked by a transformative vision.

“Beyond his domestic achievements, Mohammed’s influence has long resonated on the international stage, where he represented Nigeria’s interests at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum and the West African Gas Pipeline Authority.

“This global perspective, combined with his prior leadership of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company and the Nigerian Gas Company, equips him with a unique 360-degree view of the value chain,” he said

As Nigeria seeks to navigate the complexities of the Petroleum Industry Act, the NSE President says that Mohammed’s appointment is strategic for growth of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. (NAN)
