The Kogi Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commenced a four-day capacity-building programme for personnel of PAMA Global Security Company to enhance professionalism and improve service delivery.
Mr Ebenezer Aletan, State Commandant of the Corps, said the training was in line with NSCDC statutory mandate to regulate, supervise and monitor the activities of Private Guard Companies (PGCs).
Speaking at the commencement of the programme in Lokoja on Wednesday, Aletan emphasised the need for professionalism, discipline and dedication to duty among private security personnel.
He said the dynamic nature of security challenges required continuous training and retraining to equip operatives with the knowledge and skills needed for effective service delivery.
According to him, private guards play a complementary role in supporting security efforts and must therefore uphold the highest standards of conduct in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Aletan urged the participants to adhere strictly to the ethics of the profession, maintain cordial relations with members of the public and perform their duties with integrity.
He also advised operators of private guard companies to comply with established regulations and prioritise the welfare, motivation and continuous development of their personnel.
The commandant reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with licensed private guard companies through regular training, supervision and monitoring.
He said the partnership was aimed at enhancing the capacity of private security personnel and improving overall security across the state.
Some of the participants commended the NSCDC for organising the programme and pledged to apply the knowledge gained to improve service delivery in their respective areas of operation. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
