The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has deployed 2,280 personnel across all 16 Local Government Areas of the state, to ensure a peaceful Easter celebrations.
This is contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Ayoola Shola, and made available to newsmen on Thursday.
According to Shola, the state Commandant, Mr Bala Bodinga, made the deployment to preempt potential disruptions of law and order during the Easter festivities and prevent mischief-makers from causing mayhem.
Bodinga reassured the public that NSCDC presence would be visible across churches, recreational centers, motor parks, shopping complexes, and other critical locations, to deter criminal activity.
He said that surveillance and patrol operations had been intensified in both urban and rural communities, with tactical units and rapid response squads on standby to address any emerging threats.
The state commandant charged all officers to take resolute and decisive action against individuals with criminal intentions, particularly those bent on vandalising national assets or government infrastructure.
He warned that anyone planning to disrupt public order during Easter should reconsider their actions, as offenders would be apprehended and made to face the full force of the law.
Bodinga extended his heartfelt Easter greetings to Christians, urging all residents to embrace the season’s values of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence.
He called on the people of Kwara to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a safe and tranquil celebration.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
