The Northern Nigeria Minorities Group (NNMG) has felicitated with the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its citizens on the occasion of the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Chief Jacob Edi (Kakaki Bassange), the Group described the anniversary as “an opportunity to reflect on our collective journey of nationhood,” noting that Nigeria’s resilience over six and a half decades has sustained its unity.
“Our unity and resolve to remain as one indivisible nation have been tested repeatedly. We remain solid and unwavered. Our resilience, patience, and shared hope in the destiny of Nigeria have sustained us,” the statement read.
The NNMG paid tribute to Nigeria’s founding fathers and past leaders, as well as ordinary citizens whose sacrifices, it said, continue to form the cornerstone of national endurance.
It also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his policies and leadership, describing them as “a signpost of his commitment to place the progress and stability of Nigeria above political considerations.”
“His boldness in tackling difficult national issues is a testament to statesmanship and a clear expression of his faith in the future of this our dear country,” the group noted.
As Nigeria marks 65 years of independence, NNMG stressed that diversity and shared hope remain vital strengths that must be harnessed.
The group urged citizens to renew their faith in the Nigerian project, remain united, and work collectively towards fulfilling the dreams of the founding fathers.
