The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports circulating on some online platforms and blogs suggesting a rift between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and his Ogun State counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said the reports were a complete fabrication and did not reflect the true relationship between the two governors.
Akosile stated that Governor Sanwo-Olu and Prince Abiodun enjoy a “very cordial and brotherly relationship,” contrary to insinuations being peddled in the media space.
According to him, the two governors meet regularly and maintain constant communication on issues of mutual interest, particularly those bordering on the development of their respective states.
He explained that the close working relationship between the two leaders is further strengthened by the fact that Lagos and Ogun states share common boundaries and deep socio-cultural ties, which require sustained collaboration.
The Lagos State Government therefore warned individuals and groups spreading fake news aimed at creating discord between the two governors to desist immediately.
Akosile stressed that both Governor Sanwo-Olu and Prince Abiodun are united by a shared vision of improving the welfare and quality of life of the people of Lagos and Ogun states.
