AbdulAziz AbdulAziz, the senior assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Print Media, has denied a report by an online newspaper, the International Centre for Investigative Report, ICIR, alleging that the President is sick.
The newspaper had quoted sources saying that preparations were underway by the president’s medical team to fly him abroad for urgent medical attention.
According to reports, Mr Tinubu has been bedridden for several days, resulting in his absence from key state functions.
But speaking during an interview with the BBC Hausa on Monday, Mr AbdulAziz described the report as false and misleading.
“There is no scintilla of truth in that report; as I speak to you, the President is currently in his office attending to state matters,” the presidential aide said.
Also speaking, the special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, told The ICIR that, “people just tell you all kinds of rumours that have no basis at all.”
“He was in his office yesterday [August 5]. I was with him. I went to see him. He came to work,” he said.
He added that the president could choose to work from home or the office.
