Pastor Eno Jerry, wife of renowned Nigerian pastor Jerry Eze of NSPPD, has sparked conversation by criticizing women who prioritize careers over respecting and submitting to their husbands.
Speaking to a congregation during sermon on pursing career as a woman, she urged young women to balance ambition with biblical guidance in marriage.
“Even me I have a career, two master’s degrees, and a PhD, if you cannot take control and be under a man, you don’t know what you’re doing,” she stated.
She further highlighted the importance of choosing the right role models:
“People who have failed in their marriages are the ones teaching you how to do marriage right now. The person you are looking up to should be your role model. The fact that Sarah in the Bible called her husband ‘Lord’ should be enough guidance for you.”
Her sermon quickly sparked reactions online, with some praising her focus on respect and humility, while others debated her stance on traditional gender roles, suggesting that women can be both independent and supportive.
Pastor Eno Jerry reminded her audience that career success should not come at the expense of balance, emphasizing that marriage remains a key priority.
Her message underscores that while education and career achievements matter, respect, partnership, and balance are essential for a successful life.
