The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has concluded a specialised digital capacity-building programme for staff of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) to strengthen data-driven governance and public service digitisation.
The training, which held in Abuja on Thursday aligned with NITDA’s Digital Literacy for All (DL4All) initiative aimed at building digital capacity across public institutions.
It is also to support the reform agenda of President Bola Tinubu on economic growth, inclusive development and improved governance.
The programme featured the donation of 35 laptops to help the commission transition from manual processes to a more efficient, technology-enabled operational model.
Participants were equipped with essential skills in data analysis and data management to enhance institutional performance and service delivery.
The Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, said technology-driven processes would promote transparent and equitable representation across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
Represented by Dr Ahmed Tambour, Acting Director of Digital Literacy and Capacity Building, Inuwa said the intervention was tailored to strengthen the commission’s operational efficiency.
Tambour explained that the training focus areas were selected to support the FCC’s statutory mandate.
“We are particularly focusing on data analysis and data management because this aligns with the core mandate of the commission.
“The FCC monitors equitable representation in public service across MDAs nationwide and depends heavily on accurate, well-managed data for its oversight functions.
“By strengthening staff capacity in data handling and digital tools, NITDA aims to improve the commission’s ability to manage large datasets efficiently and carry out its responsibilities more transparently,” he said.
He expressed optimism about the long-term impact of the initiative, noting that NITDA would continue to support the commission in managing critical data collected across MDAs. (NAN) www.nannews.ng
