The National Information Technology Development Agency has empowered 50 young innovators in Enugu State with digital tools following a large-scale training programme.
The Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, represented by Dr. Aristotle Onumo, praised Governor Peter Mbah for supporting the Agency’s South-East operations.
He disclosed that over 900 youths registered for the training, with 250 recognised for outstanding performance.
Inuwa said Nigeria must move from consuming technology to creating it, stressing that innovation should become the country’s currency.
Governor Mbah described the initiative as a validation of Enugu’s ambition to become a digital innovation hub, citing investments in artificial intelligence-driven security systems and digitised governance processes.
Also speaking, Prince Lawrence Ezeh highlighted expanded tech clusters and partnerships aimed at strengthening the state’s innovation ecosystem.
The event was attended by Anna Vesterholm and Aminu Maida of the Nigerian Communications Commission, among other stakeholders.
