Nigeria ranks 6th globally in Solana developer share as Web3 ecosystem drives $162,000 capital inflow

Nigeria has emerged as the sixth-largest hub globally by developer share on Solana, as the country’s Web3 ecosystem channeled more than $162,000 into the local economy in the first quarter of 2026.

This is according to the Q1 Impact Report released by SuperteamNG, which highlighted Nigeria’s growing influence in decentralised technology development and capital formation.

The report shows that Nigerian developers now account for 67 percent of all active Solana developers in Africa, reinforcing the country’s position as a leading source of blockchain talent on the continent. The surge in developer activity translated into direct earnings, with $65,779 generated from ecosystem bounties and an additional $88,500 secured through grants from the Solana Foundation within the three-month period.

Beyond developer participation, the report points to increasing commercial adoption of blockchain-based products. Locally incubated platforms such as Evolution processed over $4 million in total value, while NectarFi recorded more than $6 million in transaction volume during its beta phase, indicating rising real-world usage of decentralised applications built in Nigeria.

Harrison Obiefule, lead at SuperteamNG, said the data reflects a structural shift in Nigeria’s role within the global technology ecosystem.
“Nigeria is no longer just a consumer of global technology; we are now a growing factory for it,” he said. “Ranking first in Africa and sixth globally by Solana developer share demonstrates that blockchain infrastructure is becoming embedded in financial services and cross-border trade.”

The report also highlights increasing integration between blockchain infrastructure and Nigeria’s fintech sector. At least 15 local platforms, including Busha, Raenest, and Jeroid, introduced Solana-based features during the quarter. These include stablecoin settlement capabilities and lending products backed by digital assets.

SuperteamNG expanded its operational footprint to 30 states during the period, hosting 186 events—both physical and virtual—to drive engagement and knowledge transfer between traditional finance and decentralised finance ecosystems.

The report further points to a strengthening talent pipeline, supported by a 16-week developer bootcamp and specialised training groups for non-technical contributors such as writers and designers. This broader ecosystem development signals an effort to build a sustainable Web3 workforce capable of competing globally
