“Nigeria is a disgrace” – Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump intensified his criticism of Nigeria on Friday, describing the nation as “a disgrace” while renewing claims that the government is not doing enough to safeguard Christian communities from extremist violence.

This comes after he labeled Nigeria a country of particular concern, alleging intense and widespread Christian prosecution in the country.

Although the federal government has repeatedly denied the allegations, insisting that the country remains tolerant to all religions.

Trump blasts Nigeria

During an appearance on a conservative radio programme, Trump reiterated his warning that he may consider deploying American military forces against Islamist militants in Nigeria if authorities fail to take stronger action to curb attacks targeting Christians.

According to him, Nigeria is a disgraced country, and people, Christians, are allegedly being killed by the thousands.

“Nigeria is a disgrace. The whole thing is a disgrace,” Trump said. “They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide, and I’m really angry about it. And we pay, you know, we give a lot of subsidies to Nigeria. We’re going to end up stopping.”
