Dr. Abdul Mahmud, Esq, one of the former Students of Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, the new INEC chairman has moved to clarify the controversy over the new chairman’s age.
In a press statement Friday, Mahmud described the controversy over Amupitan’s age as unnecessary.
He said, “Following the approval of Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the Council of State, an unnecessary controversy has arisen regarding his age. The questions appear to have been prompted by the lack of clarity of the initial presidential statement.
“As a active and conscientious citizen, a former student of Professor Amupitan in the late 1980s and 1990s ( He actually taught me Constitutional Law and Law of Evidence) when he was a young lecturer, and a collaborator with him for over three decades, I find it necessary to set the record straight. The facts of his life, as documented in his attached CV, speak for themselves.
“I urge that his CV be widely shared and published. Numerous classmates, former students, and colleagues can attest to the veracity of these records.”
