The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested three persons with disability (PWDs) for alleged drug trafficking in separate operations across Anambra and Kwara states, while operatives also uncovered 2,326 kilogrammes of Loud cannabis valued at over N5.8 billion during another raid in Lagos.
This was disclosed by the Director, Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja and reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Babafemi said the operations, which led to multiple arrests and seizures of illicit substances, were carried out between May 4 and May 7 across Lagos, Anambra, Kwara, Kogi and Nasarawa states.
According to the NDLEA spokesperson, one of the PWD suspects was tracked to Akpaka Forest in Onitsha, Anambra State, on May 6, following credible intelligence.
He said the suspect was found with 250 grammes of skunk already packaged in retail sachets.
The NDLEA spokesman further disclosed that another PWD suspect was arrested in Kwara State during a stop-and-search operation along Bode Saadu on Friday.
Babafemi said operatives of the NDLEA Special Operations Unit on Friday raided a mansion in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, allegedly being used as a stash house for illicit drugs.
During the operation, officers recovered 4,000 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of imported cannabis, weighing 2,326 kilogrammes with an estimated street value exceeding N5.8 billion.
The agency also announced the arrest of another suspect at Nyanya Karu in Nasarawa State on May 4 with 129 kilogrammes of suspected skunk.
According to him, the suspects were caught processing cannabis and mixing it with other illicit substances.
He said officers recovered 270 litres of already prepared skuchies and 106 grammes of Tramadol 225mg during the operation.
The latest arrests and seizures come amid a growing crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and abuse across Nigeria.
The operation led to the simultaneous arrests of a suspect identified as Simon in Switzerland, 34-year-old Jecinta Amara Ikechi in Anambra State, and 28-year-old Blessing Ngozi Amadi in Agbor, Delta State, on April 28, 2026.
Earlier this year, NDLEA operatives also intercepted large consignments of Captagon, tramadol and codeine shipments in several states as authorities intensified efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and abuse across the country.
