The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kaduna State Command has handed over three suspects, arms, ammunition and other exhibits to the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), for further investigation.
The handover was done on Wednesday, 22nd July, 2026 by the State Commander, CN Maijama’a Muhammad, to the North-West Zonal Office of the Centre in Kaduna.
The move is part of inter-agency collaboration to combat crime and curb the proliferation of illicit arms and ammunition, according to a statement signed by S. Garba, ASN I, SO Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Kaduna State Command.
The suspects handed over are: Solomon Iliya, male, 30, arrested in connection with 25 AK-47 empty magazines recovered during a stop-and-search operation at Sanga, Kaduna State, on 19th July, 2026. He was identified as the sender of the magazines.
The second is Emmanuel Dung, male, 29, who arrested on 19th July, 2026, along the Abuja–Jos Highway with two pistols, 22 rounds of 9mm live ammunition and three empty 9mm shell casings. He was identified as the intended receiver.
The third is Abubakar Adamu, male, 39, arrested on 22nd July, 2026, at Jere along the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway with 73 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition concealed in his possession.
According to the command, the arrest of Iliya and Dung followed credible intelligence obtained after the recovery of the 25 AK-47 empty magazines at Sanga. This led to follow-up operations in Nasarawa-Egon and Jos.
NCCSALW Commends Collaboration
Receiving the suspects and exhibits on behalf of NCCSALW, Navy Commodore Jamilu Mukhtar, Rtd., North-West Zonal Coordinator, commended the NDLEA Kaduna Command and the NDLEA Chairman/CEO, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, Rtd., for their commitment to inter-agency cooperation.
He described the handover as “a demonstration of the strong partnership among security agencies in combating crime and curbing the proliferation of illicit arms and ammunition.”
Commodore Mukhtar assured that the Centre would sustain and strengthen collaboration with NDLEA through intelligence sharing, joint operations, capacity building and continuous information exchange to enhance national security.
The State Commander reiterated the commitment of NDLEA to working closely with sister security agencies in line with the Federal Government’s approach to addressing security challenges in Kaduna State and across the nation.
