During a detailed search, security officers discovered two parcels of a white crystalline substance hidden in her bum pad underwear.

Laboratory tests later confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine, weighing a total of 1.40 kilograms.

Suspect’s confession

In her preliminary statement to NDLEA investigators, Ebere, who identified herself as a second-hand clothing dealer and POS operator based in Enugu, admitted to being recruited into drug trafficking by a criminal network.

The agency has since launched further investigations to uncover members of the syndicate behind her recruitment and to determine her intended destination.

Crackdown continues

The NDLEA has intensified surveillance at airports and other entry points in recent months, seizing large quantities of narcotics and arresting individuals involved in trafficking networks. Officials say the agency remains committed to dismantling criminal groups attempting to exploit Nigeria’s airports for drug smuggling.
