NCAA Summons Airlines Over Flight Disruptions, Passenger Misconduct

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned all domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja following recent flight disruptions and rising cases of unruly passenger behaviour.

Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Relations and Consumer Protection, confirmed the development in a post on his official X handle on Tuesday. He said the meeting will hold on Wednesday at the authority’s headquarters in Abuja.

“The NCAA has invited all domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja slated for tomorrow, Wednesday,” Achimugu wrote.

According to him, the agenda will cover issues including passenger misconduct, handling protocols, and unresolved refund and compensation claims.

The move comes less than 24 hours after Achimugu announced that the NCAA, acting under the Federal Government’s directive, would begin “naming and shaming” airlines involved in persistent flight delays and cancellations.

On Monday, he warned that sanctions would be applied against operators responsible for service disruptions, stressing that passenger rights must be respected.

The Nigerian aviation sector has faced mounting criticism in recent months, with passengers expressing frustration over delays, cancellations, and inadequate redress from airlines.
