The Nigerian Navy has sought collaboration with Denmark to enhance maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, made the appeal during a meeting with the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Jen Ole Bach Hansen, in Abuja.
According to a statement by the Director of Naval Information, Abiodun Folorunsho, the discussions centred on the planned Combined Maritime Task Force (CMTF), scheduled to commence operations in mid-2026.
The CNS said the initiative would enhance cooperation among nations to tackle maritime threats in the region.
He also invited the Danish Navy to participate in the Nigerian Navy’s International Fleet Review.
Ambassador Hansen commended Nigeria’s progress in securing its maritime domain and pledged continued collaboration under Denmark’s Africa Strategy.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a secure Gulf of Guinea.
