Navy Seeks Denmark’s Support for Gulf of Guinea Security Initiative

‎The Nigerian Navy has sought collaboration with Denmark to enhance maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea.

‎The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, made the appeal during a meeting with the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Jen Ole Bach Hansen, in Abuja.

‎According to a statement by the Director of Naval Information, Abiodun Folorunsho, the discussions centred on the planned Combined Maritime Task Force (CMTF), scheduled to commence operations in mid-2026.

‎The CNS said the initiative would enhance cooperation among nations to tackle maritime threats in the region.

‎He also invited the Danish Navy to participate in the Nigerian Navy’s International Fleet Review.

‎Ambassador Hansen commended Nigeria’s progress in securing its maritime domain and pledged continued collaboration under Denmark’s Africa Strategy.

‎Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a secure Gulf of Guinea.
