The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting peace and stability in Plateau State and the wider North Central region, following a courtesy visit by the Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, to the NAF Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit, which took place on Tuesday, saw Governor Mutfwang meet with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, DFS, as part of efforts to deepen security collaboration between the Air Force and the Plateau State Government.
Governor Mutfwang congratulated Air Marshal Aneke on his appointment as the 23rd Chief of the Air Staff and commended the NAF for its sustained operational efforts in Plateau State. He acknowledged the complexity of the security environment, stating that “we are dealing with asymmetric warfare, and it is challenging,” while stressing the need for sustained cooperation, particularly during festive and farming seasons.
In response, Air Marshal Aneke reiterated that the NAF remains guided by its Command Philosophy of building a “highly motivated, professional, and mission-ready force” capable of delivering decisive airpower effects in support of joint operations.
He highlighted ongoing NAF contributions through Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions, air mobility support, and close coordination with sister services and other security agencies to enhance stability in Plateau State.
The CAS also appreciated the Plateau State Government for providing a conducive operational environment, noting that “the support and cooperation of host communities and state governments are vital to sustaining operational effectiveness and achieving lasting security outcomes.”
