The Nigerian Air Force has commended the officers involved in a recent Alpha Jet emergency at the NAF Base, Kainji, describing their actions as a true reflection of courage and professionalism.
The incident occurred on December 6, 2025, during a post-inspection functional check flight when the aircraft developed a technical emergency shortly after take-off. The pilots skilfully diverted the jet away from residential areas before safely ejecting.
They are presently undergoing routine medical examinations.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, applauded the pilots and announced the setting up of a Board of Inquiry.
“Their sound judgement, discipline and courage prevented the loss of innocent lives and valuable assets,” he said.
The NAF further commended its search and rescue, fire and medical teams for their prompt intervention and reassured Nigerians of its commitment to strict safety standards and the protection of lives and property nationwide.
