NAF Air Strike Kills Terrorists in Sambisa, Destroys Bunkers

By Chimezie Godfrey

‎The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a precision air strike that killed several terrorists hiding in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest.

‎The operation, conducted on April 19, 2026, was executed by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI as part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on terrorist elements in the North-East.

‎In a statement signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, the strike followed credible intelligence supported by Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), which confirmed the presence of terrorists within fortified structures and bunkers.

‎According to the statement, NAF air assets engaged the targets with precision munitions, destroying the structures and neutralising multiple fighters.

‎It added that key logistics facilities were also eliminated, as confirmed by a subsequent Battle Damage Assessment.

‎“The sustained tempo of air operations continues to degrade terrorist networks, leaving them increasingly exposed and disrupted,” the statement said.

‎The NAF noted that sustained pressure has forced terrorist elements into desperate and reactive actions.

‎Reaffirming the Service’s resolve, the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, said the Air Force would maintain relentless operations against insurgents.

‎“The Nigerian Air Force will sustain relentless, intelligence-driven air operations until terrorist elements are completely neutralised,” he said.

‎He added that the Service remains committed to protecting personnel, securing the nation and ensuring the safety of citizens.

‎The NAF said it would continue to intensify precision strikes across the theatre while adhering strictly to rules of engagement and minimising civilian harm.
