My Daughter’s Birth Healed My Childhood Trauma – Toke Makinwa

Popular media personality Toke Makinwa has shared how motherhood is helping her recover from past trauma and loss. She recently revealed that her daughter’s arrival has healed her from a past loss.

In an emotional post on X, Toke disclosed that after experiencing childhood trauma following the death of her parents in a tragic gas explosion, her daughter’s birth has been helping her heal.

According to Toke, her baby girl has succeeded in healing from the grief she thought she had already recovered from many years ago.

“My daughter brought me healing, she is daily healing parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing, healing from my childhood trauma, from grief I thought I had dealt with a long time ago.

Maybe God knew I needed this,” she wrote.

Recall that the OAP welcomed her first child, Yakira Eliana, in August 2025.

She had earlier described her pregnancy as her “biggest project” and “highest calling.”

Toke also went through a high-profile divorce from fitness expert Maje Ayida in 2017 after 3 years of marriage.

The “On Becoming” author, however, added that motherhood is giving her a fresh perspective and helping her mend very painful wounds.
