A Nigerian lady has shared how her CEO summoned her for eating in the same restaurant with her and her special guests.
The lady, identified as Bimbola Rayale, narrated the experience while reacting to a similar workplace story posted on X (formerly Twitter.
Reaction to another worker’s story
Rayale responded to an X user, @General_Oluchi, who wrote: “I got into the elevator with our CEO, the man leading 20,000 employees. It was awkward, but his shoes were matching his tie perfectly, and I couldn’t resist the urge.
“I quietly said, ‘Nice shoes, sir,’ and he smiled and thanked me. He asked what floor I was going to, and I told him.
“Then he asked how we were liking the new office we just moved into, and I said we were grateful.
“For a whole month, I kept waiting for HR to email me and say, ‘Please don’t compliment the CEO again,’ but the email never came.”
How the restaurant incident happened
In response, Rayale wrote: “I laugh in Nigerian CEOs. 😂😂 Makes me remember my experience as a young graduate. I was in a habit of going to at least one fancy restaurant around VI and Ikoyi every pay day to ‘eat the fruit of my labour.’”
She explained that she once visited a new restaurant called Jevenick on Adeola Odeku after hearing many positive reviews.
According to her: “I was about to start eating when my CEO walked in with her special guests. She saw me and was like ‘Abimbola who brought you here?’ I told her I was there by myself and she was like: ‘Wow!’”
CEO calls her in after the lunch
Rayale added: “After lunch, I got summoned to her office, and she started telling me how I embarrassed her by eating in the same restaurant with her and her guests. I had to apologize, oh.”
