MWA Seeks KWHA Support to Enhance Women and Children’s Development

The Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs (MWA) has appealed to the Kwara State House of Assembly (KWHA) for continued support to advance women’s welfare, promote children’s rights, and strengthen empowerment initiatives across the state.

The appeal was made by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs.) Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, on Monday during a courtesy visit to the House Committee on Commerce, Industry, Social Development, and Women Affairs at the KWHA in Ilorin. Chief Afolashade commended the 10th Assembly for its past contributions and emphasized the need for sustained collaboration to improve the well-being of women, children, and other vulnerable groups.

Responding, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Olushola Odetundun, assured that the House Committee would continue to support initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of women and children in the state. Barr. Bello Kadir, Secretary of the Committee, reiterated KWHA’s readiness to partner with the Ministry in all efforts to achieve its objectives.

The meeting also saw the participation of Hon. Rukayat Shittu, Chairperson of the Committee on Youth Development and Communications, alongside senior officials from MWA, including Alhaji Abdulrasheed Ubandawaki, Director of Personnel, Finance, and Supply; Hajia Idiat Alabi, Director of Child Development; and Mr. Shittu Rasaq, Controller of Finance and Accounts.
