General overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has told congregants how he believes he will die.
Speaking on Thursday night at the old auditorium during the evening session of Day 4 of the church’s 73rd Annual Convention, Pastor Adeboye said he would die on a Sunday after attending church service and eating pounded yam.
“It’s going to be on a Sunday. I would go to church for service, dance very well and return home. I will eat pounded yam, then I will go,” he said.
The 83-year-old, however, did not state the date. He told worshippers that it is not compulsory for people to die only after falling ill.
The convention, themed “The Overcomers”, began on Monday at the Redemption City of God, Kilometre 46, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Preaching on the topic “Possessing Your Possession”, he said Christians should not tolerate sickness, poverty, barrenness or premature death.
He led prayers for healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, long life and victory over the forces of darkness.
Adeboye, quoting from 2 Corinthians 8:9, said prosperity belongs to Christians and urged them to reject poverty, which he described as a tool the devil uses to hinder the spread of the gospel.
