A Nigerian mother has stirred emotions online after sharing a heartbreaking video showing her 3-year-old daughter covered in painful bruises allegedly inflicted by a teacher.
The shocking incident reportedly happened at Emem Nursery and Primary School, located in Abakpa Nike, Enugu State. The viral video shows the visibly distressed mother crying uncontrollably as she filmed the little girl’s injuries.
Child left with bruises and struggles to walk
In the clip, the toddler’s leg is seen covered with red marks and bruises, making it difficult for her to walk properly.
The mother, who could not hold back her tears, narrated how she got a call from the school, informing her that her daughter could no longer walk after being flogged by one of the teachers.
She rushed to the school immediately and was shocked to see her child in such a painful condition.
The angry mother, in the video, expressed her frustration and vowed that the teacher responsible must be held accountable. She also demanded that the teacher pay for her daughter’s medical care.
According to her, no parent should have to go through the pain of watching their innocent child suffer in such a manner.
Social media users react
The emotional video quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter), drawing numerous reactions from Nigerians who condemned the teacher’s action and called for justice.
A user identified as Chi wrote: “Lol… If you do this to my child, I will not have time to carry a camera. If the videos ever make it to the Internet, just know that it was others who witnessed the fight between us.”
Covenant commented: “It obvious some people are not raised with love at home because how dare you flog a 3 years old child leaving marks.”
Another user, Sheuuuuuuu, said: “As much as I’m not against correcting kids with a cane, this is way over the line. No matter what she did, it is inhumane and unacceptable. Discipline should never turn into abuse.”
IDK also reacted, saying: “This is absolutely heartbreaking flogging a 3-year-old? That’s not discipline; that’s straight-up cruelty, and those visible marks are a screaming red flag for abuse. 💔.”
In a similar tone, Christy added: “I will definitely lockdown the school and arrest that teacher, you can’t place your frustration on my child. We both are going to dismantle each other that day honestly.
“No matter what, you have no right to flog a child this way. This is one of my fears in taking your children to school.”
Calls for justice
Many Nigerians have called on the Enugu State Ministry of Education and child protection agencies to investigate the matter and ensure the teacher faces appropriate punishment.
Parents and guardians also used the incident to remind schools that corporal punishment, especially on toddlers, can lead to long-term physical and emotional damage.
As of now, the management of Emem Nursery and Primary School has not released any official statement regarding the incident. However, social media users continue to demand justice for the little girl and her heartbroken mother.
