The Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI has dismissed viral reports alleging poor feeding of troops in the North East, describing them as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the military said the claims do not reflect the true situation in the theatre.
“The images and narratives being circulated are misleading and do not represent the actual feeding arrangements of troops,” Uba said.
He explained that troops are fed in accordance with approved standards and that the system is carefully managed.
“Our feeding system is structured and transparent. It is handled through Food Committees made up of personnel across ranks,” he stated.
Uba added that additional provisions are made during festive periods to boost morale.
He also revealed that a soldier was responsible for the viral image.
According to him, investigations showed that the personnel deliberately circulated a misleading image of a partially eaten meal.
“The image did not represent the full ration issued at the time,” he said.
The soldier has since been disciplined.
“The matter was addressed in line with the Armed Forces Act to maintain discipline,” Uba added.
He reassured Nigerians that troop welfare remains a top priority and warned against spreading false information.
