The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, has issued a security advisory warning of an increased risk of terrorist attacks across the North-East region during the closing days of Ramadan.
The advisory follows recent suicide bomb incidents in Maiduguri, which affected the Monday Market axis, Post Office area, and the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).
In a statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the military said intelligence reports indicate that Boko Haram and ISWAP elements may intensify their activities, particularly around the 27th and 29th days of Ramadan.
He noted that such periods often attract large crowds to mosques, markets, motor parks, and other public spaces, making them vulnerable to attacks.
The military urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious, especially in crowded locations, and to promptly report suspicious persons, movements, or unattended items.
Worshippers attending Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers were also advised to cooperate with security personnel during screening and access control procedures.
Parents and guardians were further urged to monitor their children, particularly during evening and night hours.
The statement also called on community leaders, religious authorities, and transport unions to support ongoing security efforts through public sensitisation.
According to the military, security agencies have already intensified surveillance, patrols, and other protective measures across the region.
It reassured residents of its commitment to ensuring a peaceful conclusion of Ramadan and the forthcoming Eid celebrations.
