Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actress Adenike Sherifat Ayilara has opened up about her past relationship experiences, revealing that men often ended things with her because she consistently refused their advances for physical intimacy.
Speaking in an interview on the Talk to B program hosted by Biola Adebayo, the veteran actress explained that her reluctance stemmed from advice given by her mother during her younger years.
Her mother warned that getting close to men could lead to pregnancy, and any attempt to terminate it might result in death.
This instilled a deep fear in her, causing her to avoid closeness with men altogether.
Ayilara shared that before her marriage to her second husband, she deliberately kept her distance from romantic interests.
Whenever a relationship progressed to the point where a partner expected sexual involvement, she would decline.
As a result, the men, feeling unfulfilled by not receiving what they anticipated from the relationship, would ultimately leave her.
She described this pattern as a recurring reason for being dumped, highlighting how her principles and upbringing shaped her choices in dating.
Her words: “Before I got married to my second husband, I didn’t usually go close to men because my mother told me that whenever I go close to them, I will get pregnant, and if I should abort it, it may lead to death. That always scared me, and it’s the reason I don’t usually go close to them. That’s the reason men usually dump me, because I always refuse whenever they want to sleep with me.
