A young man has recounted his painful experience in a relationship with an older woman, vowing never to date someone older than him again.
According to him, he had always believed women his age were not serious enough and assumed dating someone older would mean more maturity and stability. This belief led him into a relationship with a woman six to seven years older than him.
At first, everything seemed perfect and smooth between them, and he felt age was truly just a number. But an incident changed his entire perspective.
“You’ll understand when you’re older”
He narrated how one day, after his partner had a bad experience, he tried to comfort her by encouraging her that things would get better. Shockingly, she dismissed his efforts with the words: “Don’t worry, you’ll not understand. When you grow older, you’ll understand.”
He described the statement as an insult that shattered his spirit. He felt cold, weak, and disrespected, comparing it to being slapped across the face.
According to him, that moment marked the end of the relationship. He couldn’t bring himself to continue, stressing that he would rather stick to women his age than endure such disrespect again.
“It felt like insult upon injury”
The young man said he did not expect his older partner to “respect him” but was shocked by the way she belittled him because of age. He insisted that even if he were with a younger woman, she would never have spoken to him in such a dismissive way.
He ended by saying that the experience has taught him to stick with his age group, believing they would at least treat him as an equal.
