A social media content creator has caused a stir online after narrating how a wealthy man gave him money simply because he reached out to check on him.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the user identified as Pooja explained that he had randomly messaged a “big man” to say hello and see how he was doing.
According to him: “I messaged a ‘big man’ recently and just told him I wanted to say hello and check up on him.
“After a few days, he messaged me that he was expecting a follow-up chat about billing. He said when he sees chats like that, billing will follow.
“Eventually, he asked for my details, and I dropped it. 🤣
“Moral lesson: Just send random chats to that big man, ask about their family and work because they are always lonely, and people don’t really check up on them. We believe they are always alright.”
... quickly went viral, sparking a flood of reactions from social media users.
One user identified as Samuel expressed disapproval, saying Pooja should not have shared his account details since he originally just wanted to check on the man.
Samuel wrote: “You should have just declined when he asked for your account details, i don do am before.
“Him: send your account details.
“Me: Sir thank you so much but i just wanted to check up on you because i had you in thoughts.”
Another user, Michael, responded in a humorous way by tagging Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote in his comment.
He wrote: “@AlikoDangote good evening Da Alhaji, I just want to check up on you sir following the recent issues that occurred between you and PENGASSAN hope you are doing well as you should and the family is ok too.?
“More grace in making the country proud and Nigeria great.”
The story has continued to generate reactions, with many people agreeing with Pooja’s point that wealthy individuals also need simple gestures of kindness and human connection.
Others, however, cautioned against sharing account details, stressing that genuine check-ups should not be mixed with financial expectations.
