A Nigerian man has shared a touching story on social media about his cousin who ended her marriage after discovering her husband’s infidelity but later regretted her decision.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man revealed that his cousin abruptly ended her five-year marriage the moment she discovered her husband had cheated.
Despite pleas from family members to forgive and reconsider, she left with her two children, determined never to return.
A New Life That Turned Sour
According to him, her husband spent months begging for forgiveness and visiting relatives to apologise, but she refused to take him back, insisting she deserved better. She moved into a new apartment and began rebuilding her life.
Not long after, she got involved with a married man who treated her kindly, giving her a sense of comfort she thought she had lost. However, her peace was short-lived when the man’s wife discovered the affair and ended it abruptly.
A Series of Disappointments
The man narrated that she later met another suitor who left her suddenly when financial challenges arose. Later, an Alhaji promised to marry her but demanded she send her children back to their father. She declined, ending the relationship immediately.
Three years later, regret began to creep in. She decided to reconcile with her ex-husband, who had remained single for a while. But when she went to his house one morning, she was met by a pregnant woman — his new wife.
A Painful Lesson
“It has been over ten years now,” the man wrote. “The woman who once turned heads no longer does. The suitors stopped coming. Her kids are back with their father, cared for by their stepmother who now has two of her own.”
He concluded his post with a reflective note, saying, “Life does not always give you a second chance. Sometimes pride takes what pain never could.”
