A Nigerian man revealed what reportedly sparked FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s anger during his viral confrontation with Nigeria Navy officer Lt. A.M. Yerima.
Officers’ Words That Stung
According to the observer identified as @TayKingsleyc on X (formerly Twitter), Wike may have been provoked by a remark made by Lt. Yerima during the heated exchange.
The naval officer reportedly said, “Sir, I am an officer, I have integrity.”
The man explained that this statement appeared to frustrate the minister further during the confrontation over a disputed parcel of land in Abuja.
The land is said to belong to a former chief of naval staff, with military personnel deployed to secure the property, which led to the tense standoff between Wike and his officials.
The video quickly went viral, prompting Nigerians to share their opinions on the incident.
While some criticized Wike’s handling of the situation, many praised Lt. Yerima for maintaining a calm and professional approach under pressure.
Reacting to the viral video, the X user wrote: “The gallant Nigeria Navy Officer who refused to bow to Wike’s pressure. ‘Sir, I am an officer, I have integrity’… This part really hurts Wike more.”
