A quiet neighbourhood in Kasangati, Wakiso District, has been left reeling after a deadly love triangle turned violent in the early hours of Monday morning.
The incident, which unfolded at around 1 am, claimed the life of 30-year-old Vincent Kiyingi. Police say the fatal confrontation began when John Masaba allegedly returned home and found Kiyingi inside his wife’s bedroom.
What followed was a heated altercation that quickly escalated into violence.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, the two men engaged in a physical fight moments after the discovery. During the struggle, Masaba is accused of attacking Kiyingi with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries.
Kiyingi, who lived in Kiti B Cell within Kasangati Town Council, is said to have been in a relationship with Joan Nanfuka. Reports indicate that Nanfuka and Masaba had separated, although the exact circumstances surrounding their split remain unclear.
Neighbours revealed that tensions between the estranged couple had been building for some time.
In a dramatic twist, Nanfuka reportedly fled the scene just before the confrontation turned deadly. Her sudden disappearance has complicated investigations, with authorities now searching for her as a key witness.
When police officers arrived, they found Kiyingi’s body with multiple stab wounds to the chest, neck, and abdomen—clear signs of the brutality of the attack.
The shocking killing has sent waves of grief and disbelief across the community, where Kiyingi was widely known.
Masaba has since been arrested and remains in police custody as detectives continue to piece together the sequence of events. Investigators are also working to track down Nanfuka to help clarify what transpired that night.
