Man recounts spending nearly 30 years in prison over wrongful conviction

A Nigerian man has shared a harrowing account of how he spent almost three decades behind bars after being wrongfully linked to the death of a friend.

According to his account, he was arrested and sent to prison at the age of 19 after authorities accused him of involvement in the death of a man he had been sharing a room with.

Despite maintaining his innocence, he remained incarcerated for 29 years, eight months, and three days.

He explained that his only connection to the case was being present in the same room where the deceased was found, a circumstance that ultimately led to his conviction and prolonged imprisonment.

His words …

“I went to prison at the age of 19. I spent 29 years, 8 months, and three days behind bars simply because I was sleeping in a room with a friend who later d!ed…”
