A young Nigerian man has taken to social media to share his disappointment after his sister appeared ungrateful despite his efforts in sponsoring her through school.
The man, identified on X as @ifesinachiiiii, shared a screenshot of his sister’s WhatsApp status, which he came across after her graduation.
Ifesinachi shared the screenshot of his sibling’s status in response to an X post about another user who refused to pay for his feminist sister’s school fees over her teenage ‘independent woman’ attitude.
The sister’s post
In the status update, his sister wrote:
“Lol… it’s quite alright. I told you I’m graduating next month, even announced it for the family group chat. And now I’ve graduated and you’re expecting me to come tell you again that I’ve graduated instead of saying congratulations… it’s all well 👍.”
Brother’s response
Reacting, Ifesinachi revealed that he had borne the full cost of her education, only to be met with what he described as an underwhelming show of gratitude.
“I saw this one through school single-handedly, I mean 100%. Then after graduation, all the ‘brother thank you for all your sacrifices’ was this status. Lol,” he wrote.
Online debate
... has since stirred conversations online, with many sympathising with him while others argued that his sister may have expected acknowledgement without needing to repeat herself.
