Man exposes road officials for demanding N170K bribe in Ogun

A Nigerian truck driver has gone online to accuse personnel of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) of demanding an extortionate ₦170,000 after his 18-wheeler got stuck on a bad stretch of road.

In a video circulating on social media, the frustrated man, who said he had loaded used pallets into the truck, appears to be recording the scene while appealing to the public for help and accountability.

What transpired

In the clip, the driver describes how his truck became immobilised because of the poor state of the road. He claims TRACE officers then “cornered” him and insisted on the ₦170,000 payment before letting him go.

While speaking to the camera, the man says, “I shouldn’t be doing this but this is what it has gotten to, I don’t have an option,” and he vows to pursue the matter after an encounter with an officer who warned him against recording.

The footage has attracted widespread attention and dozens of shares and comments as users call for a prompt investigation.
