The man, identified as @akintollgate, offered clarification amid the online criticism, noting that many people might not have the full context.

Man shares what he observed

He posted a video capturing a different angle of the exchange between the First Lady and Governor Adeleke.

Reflecting on what he observed, he said: “She interrupted others during the program to keep to the schedule. I was on stage the entire event. It may not look pleasant, but it wasn’t malicious.”

He further explained that the First Lady did not specifically target the governor but had interrupted other participants as well, adding that her actions were aimed at ensuring the program stayed on time.

Netizens’ reactions …

One netizen @_ugomsinachi said: “This supposed ‘uniqueness’ in this case is tending towards confusion and hypocrisy. If we intend to call a spade a spade, there is nothing humourous about interrupting a sitting Governor in his state in such uncouth and callous manner. Even inside church, there is a respectable way to inform the Mic holder that his time is up.

Albeit, I understand that some people find humour even in pain and death.

Madam first Lady should do better “if she can” which I doubt.”

@prinxe_B remarked: “God bless you for the clarification. We’ve been trying to explain this, but some people have already watered down the whole statement. What happened between them was simply a light, brother-sister kind of joke, but many chose to take it out of context. Yoruba culture has its own unique way of expressing familiarity and respect, and that moment was exactly one of those”
