Man Arrested in Oyo for Allegedly Killing Brother After Accusing Him of Shooting Him in a Dream

According to a report by The Nation Nigeria on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, for allegedly killing his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, 52, following a dispute reportedly triggered by a claim involving a dream.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident was reported at the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters in Sepeteri.

Olayinka explained that the suspect allegedly accused his brother of shooting him in a dream while he was asleep the previous night. Acting on that belief, Suleiman was said to have confronted the deceased where he was seated and attacked him with a heavy rock before fleeing the scene.

“One Badmus Yunisa of Alegunlode Compound, Sepeteri, reported that Lateef Suleiman, aged 43 years, attacked his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, aged 52 years, following an accusation that the deceased had shot him in a dream,” the statement said.

The victim was immediately rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri for urgent medical attention. However, he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

Police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of the Ago-Amodu Division visited both the scene of the incident and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations. The suspect was subsequently apprehended.

Olayinka confirmed that Suleiman has been taken into custody and is cooperating with investigators. He added that the suspect has reportedly confessed to the crime.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet investigation.See_More…
