Man, 52, Arraigned For Burgling House & Carting Away Property Worth Over N8m

A 52-year old man, Abideen Akinwale has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly burgling a house belonging and carting away property worth over N8m belonging to the complainants, Tijani Abdullai and Adegbite Ademola. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened sometime in February, 2025, at Peace Crescent, Salolo Bus Stop, Lagos.

 

Some of the items allegedly stolen included bicycle, Infinix phone and electric cables, aluminium window frame and some other properties valued N8,000,000 belonging to the complainants.

 

According to the Police, the suspect burgled the place, stole the items and went into hiding. The matter was reported to the Police at Meiran Division. The Police moved into action, eventually arrested and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

After thorough nterrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read :

“That you, Abideen Akinwale, in the month of February, 2025 at No 32. Peace Crescent, Salolo Bus Stop, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did steal a bicycle and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287(10) of criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT II: “That you, ABIDEEN AKINWALE “M” on 19th August, 2025 at No 40B, Peace Crescent, Salolo Bus Stop, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did steal OPP A18 Tecno valued N150,000 and Infinix phone valued N85,000 total valued N235,000 (Two Hundred and Thirty-five Thousand Naira Only), property of one Tijani Abdullai ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT III: “That you, ABIDEEN AKINWALE “M” that on 20th August, 2025, at No 47, Peace Crescent, Salolo Bus Stop, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did steal electric cables, aluminium window frame and some other properties valued N8,000,000 (Eight Million Naira) property of one Adegbite Ademola ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287(f) of criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT IV: “That you, ABIDEEN AKINWALE “M” on 20th of August, 2025, at No 47, Peace Crescent, Salolo Bus Stop, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully damage window frames, electric cables and some properties valued N8,000,000 (Eight Million Naira) property of one Adegbite Ademola ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 351(d)(iii) of criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The Prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
