A 37-year old man, Achor Emmanuel, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly using unknown soldier to forcefully recover N1.6m debt inside the Military Barracks.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 18th September, 2025, at the Military Police office of Ojo Military Cantonment, Lagos.
According to the Police, the complainant, Felix Samuel, was owing the suspect the said money for undisclosed transactions. Instead of using legal means to recover the money, he went to the Ojo Military Barracks and hired unknown soldier, who then took the complainant to the Military Police office and forced him to transfer the money to to him without knowing the details of the transaction.
The matter was reported to the Police at Onireke Division. Tthe suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the complainant.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, ACHOR EMMANUEL ‘M’ on or before the 18th day of September, 2025 at about 1340hrs at the Military Police office of Ojo Military Cantonment, in the Ojo Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace by using unknown soldier to forcefully ask one Felix Samuel ‘m’ who was owing you the sum of N1,600,000.00 One Million Six Hundred Thousand Naira, to transfer from his GTB and Sterling Bank to your Access Bank against his consent and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ogun, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
