A 23-year old man, Anu Ajibade, has landed in trouble for allegedly stealing a tricycle worth N6.2m, which was parked by the owner, Adeniye Adeyinka and he was caught while trying to escape at bus stop in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ajibade, was arrested and charged for stealing over his alleged conduct.
The incident happened on 6th September, 2025, at Gate Bus/stop, Ipaja Lagos, where the complainant parked the tricycle with registration Number: JJJ607QQ.
According to the Police, while he was trying to escape with the tricycle, the owner raised alarm. He was apprehended and handed over to the Police at Ipaja Division for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
While being interrogated, he admitted to have stolen the tricycle and was unfortunate to have been caught while he was trying to escape. The tricycle was recovered from him as exhibit.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you ANU AJIBADE “M” on the 6th day of September, 2025 at about 1100hrs at Gate Bus/stop, Ipaja Lagos, in the Lagos magisterial District, did steal a yellow tricycle with Registration Number: JJJ607QQ, valued at Six Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N6,200,000.00) Only, property of one ADENIYE ADEYINKA “M” and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria, 2015.”
He pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded guilty to enable him to present the facts of the matter for the Court to sentence him accordingly.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos and adjourned the matter for facts and sentence.
