A 22-year old man, Thomas Phillip, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring and biting a 17-year old girl to submission and forcefully engaging her in sex.

.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Phillip, has been arrested and charged for the alleged assault and defilement.

The incident happened on 19th July, 2025, at Midosun Street, Morgan Estate, Ojodu, Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim to an apartment and engaged her with words of mouth in order to lure her into sex but the victim resisted and refused.

Her refusal was said to have angered the suspect, who then drew the victim’s hand and inflicted injury on her with a deep bite. He eventually subdued and forcefully had sex with her. And having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anyone about what happened.

However, the victim informed her parents about what happened and the matter was reported to the Police in the area. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After thorough interrogation at the Gender Section, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Thomas Philip ‘m’, on the 19th of July, 2025 at No 16 Midosun Street, Morgan Estate, Ojodu Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile one girl, ‘f 17 years old, by forcefully having unlawful carnal knowledge of her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

COUNT 11:”That you, Thomas Philip ‘m’, on the same date, place, within the aforementioned Magisterial District, did assault one girl, ‘f 17 years old, by giving her a bite on her right arm and thereby committed an offence under Section 170 and punishable under Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2025.”

However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
