Malnutrition: US announces $5m in financial support to UNICEF in Northwest Nigeria

The United States has announced that it has provided $5 million in support to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to deliver nutrition support to at least 70,000 children with acute malnutrition in Northwest Nigeria.

The State Department disclosed this in a statement to DAILY POST on Thursday.

According to the US, the funds will be used to provide food, medicine, and humanitarian supplies to the region.

“The State Department provided $5 million to UNICEF to deliver lifesaving nutrition support to at least 70,000 children with acute malnutrition in Northwest Nigeria. These funds will be used by UNICEF to provide ready-to-use food, medicine, and other humanitarian supplies. This commitment to donate lifesaving assistance affirms U.S. global leadership, strength, and compassion,” the US said in a statement.

This comes after the US government on Wednesday announced visa restrictions for terrorism financiers and sympathizers in Nigeria.
