Nigerian-born international journalist Livinus Chibuike Victor has revealed plans for a Guinness World Record attempt, aiming to set the record for the longest interviewing marathon. The event, themed “Nigeria Our Strength,” is scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 1, 2025, at Tangier Hotel, 34 Ekukinam Street, beside ABC Transport, Utako, Abuja.
Victor explained that the initiative is designed to underscore the vital role of journalism in democratic societies. According to him, journalism continues to educate, empower, and hold leaders accountable, making an informed public possible.
“In an era where truth is constantly challenged, this event emphasizes the importance of a free, ethical, and fearless press,” Victor said. “This attempt is not just about breaking a world record; it’s about celebrating integrity, truth, and the influence journalism has in shaping open and accountable societies.”
The record attempt will feature multiple interactive sessions aimed at engaging the public, celebrating press freedom, and recognizing the contributions and sacrifices of journalists worldwide. Participants and guests will have the opportunity to witness the marathon firsthand and partake in discussions that highlight journalism’s enduring societal impact.
Victor’s initiative has already generated significant attention from media houses, civil society groups, and press freedom advocates, all eager to support an effort that combines global recognition with the celebration of journalistic excellence.
The event promises to be a landmark occasion in Nigeria’s media history, blending record-setting ambition with advocacy for transparency, accountability, and the crucial role of journalists in strengthening democracy.
