The newly created Lions District 404B6 Nigeria has unveiled plans to raise N250 million for the construction of a Lions House and Food Bank in Osogbo as part of its flagship projects for the 2026/2027 service year.
District Governor, Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere, disclosed this while addressing journalists on Tuesday in Osogbo to mark the commencement of the 2026/2027 Lions Service Year. He said the fundraising drive would be the highlight of his Investiture and Public Presentation scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Akere explained that District 404B6 was created following the bifurcation of the former District 404B2, urging members to make the newly established district a model of service, leadership and community impact.
“Our focus this year must be on membership growth and retention, impactful service projects, support for LCIF, and effective brand marketing through advocacy,” he said.

The District Governor identified unity, integrity and visibility as the core priorities of his administration. He also launched the “Wear It Wednesday” initiative across all Lions clubs in the district to promote the organisation’s brand and encouraged members to maintain decent and formal dressing at all Lions activities.
Akere further urged members to participate actively in district programmes, stressing that community service should extend beyond charitable acts to inspire more people to join the organisation.
“Let us build a district we will all be proud of – one known for growing membership, carrying out outstanding service, and generously supporting the Lions Clubs International Foundation,” he appealed.
He concluded by seeking the prayers, cooperation and commitment of members as District 404B6 begins its inaugural service year.
