Lagos Govt Denies Rift Between Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun

The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports alleging a rift between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing the claims as false and misleading.

The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, and made available to PUNCH Online.

Akosile said the governor’s attention had been drawn to reports circulating on some online media platforms and blogs suggesting a breakdown in the relationship between the two governors.

“We wish to state clearly that this is not true. In fact, it is the direct opposite of the relationship that exists between the two leaders,” the statement said.

According to him, Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun maintain a close and cordial working relationship rooted in mutual respect and shared development goals.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Governor Sanwo-Olu enjoy a very cordial brotherly relationship,” Akosile stated, adding that both leaders meet regularly and communicate frequently on matters of mutual interest.

He noted that the strong ties between the two governors are reinforced by the shared boundaries between Lagos and Ogun states, as well as longstanding socio-cultural connections.

Akosile cautioned individuals and platforms spreading what he described as fake news to desist, stressing that both governors remain committed to a common vision of improving the lives of their people.

He said attempts to sow discord between the two leaders would not distract them from pursuing collaborative efforts aimed at regional growth and development.
