A candid interview with a young woman who says she survives through transactional sex has gone viral, prompting wide discussion about choice, poverty and support.
In the clip, she speaks bluntly about her work, her earnings and her future plans, saying she earns as much as ₦300,000 at times and that she does not wear underwear while working, because, in her words, “ashawo no dey wear pant.”
The interview, shared widely on social media, also captures the woman urging younger people to avoid the lifestyle, calling it “a matter of life and death.”
She says she would consider marriage only if a partner invested in a business for her, and admits she does not trust herself as “wife material” despite knowing how to cook.
Honesty remains her only defence
Throughout the exchange the woman repeatedly stresses that her choices are driven by circumstance rather than glamour.
Asked what the highest sum she has received is, she answers ₦300,000, and says the most she has given a man was ₦50,000. She detailed small luxuries she buys, wigs up to ₦80,000 and the phone she uses, a Tecno.
On family, she emphasised the precariousness of her situation when asked what would happen if her mother were present, replying that her mother is not around to judge or stop her.
When asked whether she would want her daughter to follow the same path, the woman replied jokingly but serious at the same time, “I will kill am and bury her alive,” a remark that shocked many viewers.
She ends the interview by advising young people against “hook up” culture, warning that it is not easy and carries risks.
